Martin Riordan - Conference Speaker
Martin Riordan was appointed to head TAFE Directors Australia in January 2006.
Martin Riordan has recently launched a three-year Strategic Plan for TAFE Directors Australia. A feature of the Plan is advocacy forward a new Innovation Platforms for the TAFE Sector, and engagement with its industry and community stakeholders.
Martin came to the TDA after his appointment as an executive with the Department of Education, Science and Training in Canberra, including the role of principal speech writer. He was a recipient team member in the Corporate Strategy Group of the DEST Secretary’s Award for Excellence in 2005.
Martin Riordan began his career as a political journalist in Canberra and Macquarie Street, NSW, and later an editorial executive with News Limited, Sydney. He served as a media staffer for The Honourable John Howard MP (when Leader of the Opposition), and later worked as a senior executive in public companies operating in Australia and South East Asia. This included an extended posting to Singapore, and here Martin led a vocational education, industry conference and research agency.
He was recruited to DEST on his relocation to Australia.
